Fashionista d'HiverI

Winters with our beloved nutter, Manic, are much as I remember mothering toddlers... I frequently ask her if she needs to potty & I watch her like a hawk because I know that she's waiting until the last minute to agree to go outside in this wretched cold snap of the last few weeks.
Then it takes me 3 or 4 minutes to get her into her sweater & firmly velcro a heavier coat on over that, tie her adorable little hat snugly under her chin to keep her little ears from shattering like a glass bubble. It's a struggle to put her boots on as she protests non-stop.
I finally have her all geared up & shove her out the door. She does a huge Spanish Walk, shaking each elevated foot dramatically in protest, but at last does get down to business.
I wait at the door. There is no sense in sitting down, or in going to the restroom myself, because she will soon be back, shivering, bouncing above the level of the window sill, emphatically pointing out that she needs in. Now. please.

"I am just not made for this re-dicka-less weather!
Can you all not see that God clearly did not mean for me to live on the God Forsaken Canadian winter Prairie?
It is -34*C (-29*F) outside in the middle of the day!
Don't even get me started on the windchill factor!
Well, at least I look fabulous while I freeze my toucas."

  1. Manic is adorable! But I completely understand her aversion to the cold. Stay warm Baby!

    1. I keep trying to get a short clip of video so you can SEE what a drama queen she is - it's hard to keep her in focus when I'm laughing so hard. ;-)

  5. OMG! She is adorable in her winter finery. I'd love to see that video. My two girls are like dealing with toddlers in snowsuits (they have blankets). They want to go out every hour and run around and then come in dripping wet for a brisk rubdown with their towels! We had a good blizzard today and they're loving it.

  7. Poor thing! I don't want to go out either. You know Mrs Shoes for some reason when you leave a comment on my blog I can't respond to it. I would love to talk but I don't know why this happens. I don't have your email so I wanted to tell you that I deleted your comment. I deleted because (don't laugh) have no cotton picking idea of what you were talking about. So I figured it couldn't have been good. Still love ya though and your poor cold doggie. Can she really walk with her shoes?

    1. hahahahha, You're right Vickie, it was vague but edgy! Dirty mind.
Sorry y'all, private joke that would take too long to explain!

Yes, Manic CAN walk in her booties, but she really hates to wear them. Like a toddler who wants to walk through half frozen puddles in their bare feet.

  9. She doesn't look amused, ha! Mine would never let me put anything on her. Maybe she is cut out for the Canadian Prairies, although we've got it pretty cold here too (-14F/-26C).
    Stay warm!

    1. Believe me when I tell you, Manic has no choice in the matter. Like any small child, she does not know what's good for her.
